THE LAST JEDI POSTER MAG

Now here is a real curio which I just picked up in my local newsagents,  a  poster magazine for  THE LAST  JEDI.




You don't see many of these nowadays.   Its also notable how they used an old photo of   Kylo Ren from Vanity Fair.




I've scanned in order the cover and back page plus the inside pages.   It also opens into a dual poster of  Luke and  Rey.

MORE MUTANT MAIL

Here is my letter  from  ESSENTIAL  X-MEN   plus  Kevin  Barron's  response several issues later.


As you can see,  Kevin had two letters in the same issue.


In one particular issue,  he had THREE   !

A LITTLE BIT OF MARVEL UK HISTORY

Kevin  Barron must surely be  THE  most prolific letter writer to the m-uk collector editions.   His response to my comments about the 1980's era has in turn generated a lot of feedback  including this letter from  Rob  Kirby in the latest issue of   ESSENTIAL   X-MEN.




Kirby  is quite an authority on the subject of marvel uk  as he proves here.

ROY OF THE ROVERS IN THE TIMES

Now  here  is  something  you  don't  see  every  day ,   Roy  Race made  an  appearance  in  last Saturday's  Times   newspaper. 

DAN DARE IN THE NEW EUROPEAN

From todays   NEW  EUROPEAN  newspaper,   a great article on the history  of  Dan  Dare.


Apologies for the pages being slightly cut off  but the library scanner is only so big.

THE PHANTOM NEWSPAPER SUPPLEMENTS

EPISODE 1  also generated a record number of souvenir brochures and magazine supplements in the uk newspapers.   The   SUNDAY   TIMES   special  was  probably the best of the bunch but here are a few more that may have escaped fan attention.




The  MIRROR  specials  re-used  shots  from  the  VANITY  FAIR   special  but also had some pics not seen in VF.

THE PHANTOM MAGAZINES

Whatever  you  may think  of  the  merits  of   STAR  WARS : THE  PHANTOM  MENACE as a  movie,  it  undeniably  generated   a  ton  of   rip-off    (  sorry, spin-off  )   publications.

The  POPULAR  MECHANICS  cover is  colourful and eye catching while the souvenir special came with a bonus booklet.

AXCESS TO HAMILL

From  1997,    AXCESS  mag  interviews  Mark  Hamill


At that time,  the special editions had generated fresh interest in the star wars saga.


And  now 20 years later  ,  Hamill is doing the promotional rounds once again in anticipation of  THE LAST JEDI.


He recently appeared on the cover of GQ.

DINOSAURS SPECIAL

 A really nice  issue from the   '  ALL ABOUT   '   magazine series .




I've  posted  both  the  polybagged  version  and  the  cover on its own.

SPIDEY SPECIAL

Number 5  in  the  SCI-FI  ICONS  series,  a  spider-man  special.

FOOM !

This was a recent freebie in comic shops.


Nice to see it return.

LOOK ITS HOOK !

From  1991-92,    the excellent if  long  expired   PREVUE  covers the  Spielberg folly  HOOK.


I happen to like this one more than most.   In fact,  its still underappreciated to this day even though it has aged very well.


There is much  to enjoy  here,  not least  Hoffman's  OTT  scenery chewing.

STAR WARS IN TIME OUT

A pair of contrasting  star wars covers from  TIME  OUT.


The Vader  one is particularly striking.


By that  stage,  the magazine was free of charge.

MOVIES MAGAZINE

From 1992,   another short lived uk magazine  titled   MOVIES.

MORE RINGS STUFF

also from 2002,   several more tie-in  magazines for  THE  TWO  TOWERS.


FANTASY  WORLDS   used  material originally published in the  usa  by the  STARLOG  group.

RINGS REDUX

From 2002,  a newspaper supplement to tie-in with the release of   THE TWO TOWERS.
